Season 8 patch ranking rework

Several huge changes are on the way with the next season, which will begin in a week. This discussion is from an article highlighting the changes on Dextero¹.

Rank restrictions removed

the announcement that most ranking restrictions will be removed, allowing players to queue with their friends regardless of rank.

So I can play with my brothers, who normally get beyond qualification for my permabronze status. Queue times might be an issue, but at least skill won’t be.

Rank reset

Additionally, ranks will regularly reset and players will have to go through placement games to determine where they’ll be starting. It’s worth noting that this’ll be a soft reset rather than a hard one, meaning that players who are in the higher ranks won’t get completely reset.

It is mentioned that the soft reset will preserve something for really high ranks; how about very law ranks? Will this be the end of my permabronze and rankup immunity?
