Moirawatch: DESTROYING Grandmaster Players on Moira

Intro Links YouTube: https://youtu.be/HPUk95xNmt4?si=s7Uj51WXI1AhWtYk Piped: https://piped.video/watch?v=HPUk95xNmt4 Notes At the start of the game he makes the enemy GMs look almost Bronze (I would know). In the second half they all want him dead, and he doesn’t have a lot of leeway. But one of the things which I need to better emulate, demonstrated in this game and in https://orys.us/uU , is his skilled use of Fade for evasion. Although harder on the single-lane Circuit Royale than on the side-roomful Paraiso, it is clear (don’t “duh” mu on this; I make this mistake often) that evasive fade is about getting out of their line of sight and not about sheer distance; evasive fade is not travel fade.

Moirawatch: Primary heals as Moira in Season 6 - Paraiso (Top 50 Moira)

Intro Links YouTube: https://youtu.be/SjfSg0rCkL8?t=2 Piped: https://piped.video/watch?v=SjfSg0rCkL8 Notes Really high-activity Moira play from ArX, this time in the rare roll of primary healer (since his teams’ other began as Lucio). “I hate playing with Lucio!” he said, because by requiring he be primary healer, heh would be unable to leave the team for big flanking excursions. The game demonstrates excellent use of Fade for retreating around corners and out of sight in order to maximize longevity, even with the enemy Diva on the constant hunt for Moira blood.

Moirawatch: first game with Illari

First game with Illari Spending th first moments downloading the new content revealed what it was: with the game on Antarctica, both teams were using Illari, the new support, and we saw pylons all over. It seems like a decent roll-out, meaning that the untrained probably-bronze players had about the same score as I had in both damage and healing. The pylon’s rate of healing was not oppressive (well-placed orbs were no less effective, though surely a little more carefully executed), and I couldn’t help but think of her rifle as a really big pea-shooter.

Moirawatch: Healing-first win streak

Questioning my value We played a game in which I was soundly out-performed by the other healer (but not to smurf-suspicion levels), although we took the win. This led to pondering whether I had contributed much to my team. Principles of Life-First Wanting to be sure I brought good value to my team, having made the resolution to focus on keeping my team (myself included) alive, I seem to have hit a sweet-spot of what Bronze needed from me this session, and I had a nice little win-streak.

Moirawatch no. 1

Intro to MoiraWatch This is my first entry tracking my OverWatch consumption, firstly because digesting my frequent consumption is a way of resisting meaningless binging (I essay for Netflix show streaming, and for PodCast listening, too), and also because it is a way of harvesting, recording, and tracking my own improvement1 in the OverWatch game. Why Moira? Why Moirawatch? Because, from the start, Moira has been my choice of hero in Overwatch.

Moirawatch: Moira ASMR Gameplay

Intro Links YouTube: https://youtu.be/FJQQOQZZYcU Piped: https://piped.mha.fi/watch?v=FJQQOQZZYcU Notes ArX was right on that I enjoy his ASMR1 style in general; where other streamers have high-energy constant talk streams, like Ml72 or, loudest I’ve experienced, Nolan3, or they have lots of bells and whistles ornamenting their stream4. This video was a portion of ArX sometimes silent streams, where he lets his gameplay speak for itself. The game is on Gibraltar5 and I particularly admire ArX way of opening on the map, immediately fading out the door and hurling a damage orb down the hallway where people are most often waiting (at least, at high-ranks), and not attempting to stay in the firing range but instead falling down to the cart.

Moirawatch: Can Moira Compete with Illari in Season 6??

Intro Links YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=964f7aF_Yfg Piped: https://piped.simpleprivacy.fr/watch?v=964f7aF_Yfg Other Links Title image too funny to drop. AI generated1 Twitch2 OW Wiki: Illari https://overwatch.fandom.com/wiki/Illari Notes The game starts with a quick discussion of the new hero and the incoming patch, observing how Blizzard’s roll out seems to be overpowered (which would be fair, given that the Life Weaver roll-out was such an ongoing embarassment) and that an over-abundance of supports (ArX says “healers”) is a problem for the game.

Jennifer Finlayson-Fife: Sex Worth Wanting

Playfulness, Freedom, and Adaptation An excellent interview in which Dr. Finlayson-Fife discusses, among other things, the value of playfulness and freedom in intimacy, and how crucial it is to be honest (and hence vulnerable) with your spouse and with yourself. She shares several good stories, one involving “the best text you’ve ever sent me” when a wife finds the bravery to be adventurous, and the story of a couple whose individual stress-coping life strategies were negatively complementary to eachother, suggesting a vicious cycle; recognizing their individual habits and implicit strategies was crucial to trying to break this cycle.

ants in a jar

Intro I must be late to the game because the ants in a jar meme that circulated again recently was new to me. The version I encountered attributed Sir David Attenborough with the quote, but TruthOrFiction.com has done a good job chasing down some history on this meme. They had a few insights that I think are worth considering. the issues to which the meme alluded, it hinted, would disappear or be resolved if only unseen forces hadn’t “shook the jar.

This Beautiful Fantastic (film review)

Overview Discovery It flitted across my Amazon Prime watchlist months ago while frustrated at trying to get my Hallmark Movies app to work, and I added it to my watchlist and promptly forgot about it. Its cover didn’t quite look like a standard hallmark, though. Fast forward yesterday when we wanted something light but perhaps less cliché, and the bemused introspection of that cover-picture was a whispered invitation. When I saw that this show held a solid PG rating without being blatantly for-children, I was sold and we began watching.
